“The situation with PledgeMusic is incredibly heartbreaking for musicians and their fans,” says Bandzoogle’s Director of Artist & Industry Outreach, Dave Cool. “And it’s yet another reminder that as an industry, we need to do much better by the musicians we’re trying to help. With Bandzoogle, artists can be assured that any money their fans pledge to their campaigns is reaching them directly, and immediately.”

While effects can certainly be used in serial, you’ll have more control over the sound by creating aux channels for each individual effect. This way, you can slowly bring up the effects until they sit just behind the vocal. Just be careful — you don’t want the effect to overpower the vocal. Try turning the effects up so you can just barely hear them behind the original vocal — so that if you were to mute the effects, you would just barely notice something is missing.

But every once in a while, a new song will transport me to that same place where music has always made me feel at home, and every now and then a new artist will remind me of the artists I used to love. When I’m transported back, it feels like such a simpler, more magical time. But it can also remind me that we’ve changed so much — sometimes for the better — in 2019.

Soundfly welcomes new voices each month to offer unique perspectives, shine a light on unexpected musical worlds, and help our readers find their sound.

Right off the bat, I think I’ve found one of my new favorite composers ever. His music is simply stunning. Ildebrando Pizzetti was born in Parma in 1880 to the pianist, Odoardo Pizzetti. His father taught him to play piano at a young age; but Ildebrando’s first love was writing plays — he had two produced for the stage before he turned 15. His focus turned back to music and he decided to enter the Musical Conservatorium of Parma in 1895 to study music full-time with Giovanni Tebaldini.

What eventually slowed Johnson down was his frustration over the tools available to people who are interested in making flowing playlists, whether for work or simply for their own listening pleasure. And so, Muru Music was born. Johnson set out to create the world’s best AI-driven music-recommendation-and-discovery engine to help streaming platforms keep the music flowing better than ever. By combining one of the tech industry’s most savvy deep-learning algorithms with one of the world’s foremost DJs, they’re just getting started.

Angela Mastrogiacomo is the founder of Muddy Paw PR, where her artists have seen placement on Alternative Press, Spotify, Noisey, Substream, and more, as well as the Director of Community and Events for Music Launch Co. As pop songs are usually given a pretty conservative time limit (2:45 on average and shrinking by the decade), there isn’t usually time for an outro. Intros are becoming increasingly rare as well. On top of that, the chorus (or more commonly referred to nowadays as “the hook”) has become the primary focus of most pop songwriters today.

We don’t see things like this anymore. Maybe MTV makes artists sign contracts to say they won’t misbehave as such now. Who knows. But Nirvana did misbehave and fought hard to make music dangerous again.

This spectacular Christmas cover collection is sure to win over any chiptune-hating Scrooge any time of the year. Bit Shifter’s “Let It Snow” is one of my favorite arrangements of anything ever.
